Star Student
Each week a "Star Student" will be picked. An entire bulletin board will be set up for your child to share information about themselves. The week before your child is chosen for Star Student of the Week, I will send a letter home. I will also post a schedule on this website of when each student will have their week of being the star student.
When your child is picked to be a star student, each day of the week will have a special activity that will honor him/her.
The following is a list of the activities that will be used to honor your son/daughter.
Monday: The Friday before your child is chosen as Star Student of the week, a tote bag will be sent home with the child. Student's will have a week to collect 3 special items with which to fill the bag at home and bring it back to share with classmates on Monday. Students should also bring in photos of their choice to display on the Star of the Week Bulletin. (All items will be sent back home after the week is over).
Tuesday- The star student will complete a poster about himself/herself. The rest of the class will write a note to the star student about what makes him/her special. The teacher will present the star student with all the notes from his/her classmates on Friday.
Wednesday- Letter from Someone Special- The Star Student will ask someone special (mother, father, grandparent, brother, sister, teacher) to write a letter to the class telling how special the child is to you. The letter will be sent to school in a sealed envelope and I will read the letter to the class. The content of the letter will be up to you, but you may want to choose from the following ideas: Describe special or funny stories about your child for the class to hear, write a silly or serious poem about your child, tell us some neat things we may not know.
Thursday- Favorite Book- The star student will bring in one of his or her favorite picture books to read to the class during Read Aloud Time.
Friday- Star Recognition- The star student will be recognized by his/her classmates and will be presented with a certificate and book of notes from their classmates. They will also be able to sit in the teacher's chair for the day!hild, s
